Softball Takes Two From Southern Maine

GORHAM, Maine — The Endicott softball team swept Southern Maine, 8-0 and 4-2, on Thursday evening at the USM Softball Stadium.

GAME ONE: Endicott 8, Southern Maine 0

WP (13-3): Jaylin Couto (Taunton, Mass.) — 6 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 5 K
LP (10-7): Lauren Merrill (Bethel, Maine) — 2 1/3 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 1 K

The Gulls put up a crooked number (3) in the first inning and never looked back in the contest.

Chloe Shapleigh (Lynnfield, Mass.) drew a bases loaded walk to open up the scoring, while Lindsay Joubert (Haverhill, Mass.) knocked in two with a single to jump ahead 3-0.

Emma DaSilva (Bristol, R.I.) and Shapleigh went on to knock in two more runs, respectively, before Joubert capped drove in the game's final run with an infield single in the seventh.

GAME TWO: Endicott 4, Southern Maine 2

WP (3-1): Analise Grady (Reading, Mass.) — 7 IP, 9 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 7 K
LP (7-8): Belle Snyder (Epping, N.H.) — 5 IP, 4 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 2 BB, 6 K

Endicott started game two just like game one with a three-spot in the opening frame to eventually complete the sweep.

Lauren Misiaszek (Londonderry, N.H.) and Shapleigh both had an RBI in the first inning, while the final run came across home plate via a wild pitch.

Raven Comtois (Milford, N.H.) also connected on an RBI single to right field in the fifth for a much-needed insurance run as Southern Maine countered with two runs in the bottom half but was never able to complete the comeback.
