Men’s Volleyball Sweeps Nichols To Lock Up No. 1 Seed In NECC Tournament, 3-0

DUDLEY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team swept Nichols, 3-0, by scores of 25-20, 25-20, and 25-23, in conference action on Sunday afternoon.

Ian Smith (Elk Grove, Calif.) and Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) both reached double digits in kills with 12 (.526) and 10 (.467), respectively, to lead the Gulls. 

Spencer Capps (Lake Bluff, Ill.) and Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.) also notched seven putaways apiece in the regular season title-clinching victory. 

Meanwhile, Gavin Emenaker (Newton, Mass.) recorded a match-high 34 assists to round out the list of individual highlights. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott remains unbeaten in the all-time series over Nichols (8-0). 
  • The match featured 21 total ties and six lead changes (S1: 5-1 | S2: 4-0 | S3: 12-5).
  • Vance Mallory (Playa del Rey, Calif.) shined with a team-high seven digs. 
  • Brian Wightman (Las Vegas, Nev.) saw 10 of his 19 receptions correlate to kills (18-for-19 on serve receive).

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (16-6, 6-0 NECC) and Nichols (14-11, 5-1 NECC) have earned the top two spots in the upcoming NECC Tournament. Both teams will host a semifinal round matchup on Thursday, April 7 (opponents TBD).
