BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team split a pair of matches against Elmira (3-1) and No. 1 nationally ranked Springfield (0-3) on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.
MATCH ONE: Endicott 3, Elmira 1 (25-19, 24-26, 25-20, 25-23)
Spencer Capps (Lake Bluff, Ill.), Nikolas Kasprzak (Windham, N.H.), and Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) all produced double-digit kill performances (15, 13, 10) to lead the Gulls to the victory.
Meanwhile, Gabe DeBenedetto (Rockford, Ill.) facilitated the attack via a match-high/career-high 44 assists.
Today's match featured 38 ties and 15 lead changes (S1: 2-0 | S2: 16-7 | S3: 12-3 | S4: 8-5).
MATCH TWO: No. 1 Springfield 3, Endicott 0 (14-25, 22-25, 15-25)
Robert highlighted the Gulls in the loss behind 12 kills, a .429 hitting percentage, one service aces, and six digs.
His 12 kills also marked the seventh time this season Robert has notched double-digit putaways (third straight match).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORES
- Endicott evened its all-time series with Elmira (2-2).
- DeBenedetto's previous career-high in assists was 41 (3/3/21, L, 3-2, Wentworth | 2/17/22, L, 3-2, Rivier).
- Capps has compiled 15 or more kills three times this season.
