Men’s Volleyball Tops SUNY Potsdam On Senior Day, 3-1

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team defeated SUNY Potsdam, 3-1, by scores of 25-19, 25-10, 21-25, and 25-18 in conference action on Saturday evening at MacDonald Gymnasium.

Prior to the match, seniors Matt Cruz (Easton, Conn.), Nick Hayes (Salem, N.H.), and Rafa Robert (San Juan, Puerto Rico) were all honored for their contributions to the men's volleyball program and the Endicott College community.

All three seniors contributed mightily to the win, highlighted by Robert who compiled a match-high 13 kills on 19 swings (.579).

Hayes also registered a career-high 10 kills (.500) to go along with six digs, while Cruz had four kills, three service aces, three digs, and one block assist.

Mason Mallory (Playa del Ray, Calif.) rounded out the list of individual performances with nine kills (.389) and a perfect 13-for-13 showing on serve-receive.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Today's match was the first-ever meeting between the two programs.
  • Endicott is 6-3 at home this season.
  • The Gulls have won four out of their last five matches.
  • This evening's match only featured 15 ties and seven lead changes (S1: 4-4 | S2: 0-0 | S3: 6-1 | S4: 5-2).

Endicott (14-5, 4-0 NECC) hosts SUNY Poly tomorrow at 1 PM. SUNY Potsdam (12-15, 3-1 NECC) travels to Nichols tomorrow at 12 PM.
