BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team swept Newbury College, 3-0, by scores of 25-12, 25-13, and 27-25 on Tuesday night to improve to 14-9 overall and 8-1 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play.
Endicott received at least one kill from 12 different student-athletes in tonight's win including a match-high nine from John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) on 14 swings (.571 hitting percentage). Osborne, who will enter this Thursday's home match against MIT with 993 career kills, also added three service aces and three digs to his stat line against Newbury.
Daniel Toth (Glenwood, N.J.) contributed eight kills (.636 hitting percentage) and four block assists, while Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) had five kills (.667 hitting percentage), three service aces, and one dig. Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) facilitated the offense with a match-high 22 assists.
Wade Robidoux (Agawam, Mass.) led the Nighthawks with seven kills, six digs, and two assists, while Zach Kaufman (Newtown, Mass.) ran the attack with 16 assists.
Endicott jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the match behind hitting percentages of .550 and .500 in the first two sets, respectively. In the final set, the Gulls fended off six tied scores and four lead changes to eventually claim the win, and bump its road record to 8-2 on the season. As a team, Endicott posted a .405 hitting percentage, its third-highest mark this season (.425 vs. Lesley on Feb. 24, W 3-0 | .423 vs. Lesley on Mar. 22, W 3-0).
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Endicott is 27-10 in the all-time series versus Newbury, which dates back to 2/29/2000.
- The Gulls are currently on an 11-match winning streak versus the Nighthawks.
- Freshman Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) tied for the match-high in digs with six.
- Healy now has five or more digs in 14 matches this season (six-straight).
FOR THE FOES
- Robidoux has five or more kills in 22 out of 23 matches this season.
- Skyelar Whitehead (Belchertown, Mass.) finished second on the team in kills with four in the loss.
- Khalil Page (Baltimore, Md.), Xavier Brown-Rose (Wilbraham, Mass.), and Joshua Thorne (Oxford, Conn.) rounded out the Newbury attack with three kills apiece.
