BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team dropped a 3-1 league match to Regis College on Monday night at MacDonald Gymnasium by scores of 25-23, 25-16, 21-25, and 25-18.
Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.) and Daniel Toth (Glenwood, N.J.) both registered seven kills, while Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) and Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) registered six kills apiece to highlight the Endicott offense. Senior setter Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) also dished out 26 assists, registered six digs and notched five block assists in the loss.
Regis was led offensively by Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.) as the sophomore tallied a career-high 21 kills (.533) to go along with four digs and one assist. Drew Beimel (Redondo Beach, Calif.) contributed 11 kills (.391) and eight digs, while Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.) aided the attack with eight kills and seven blocks (one solo, six assists). Zach Sindoni (Haverhil, Mass.) compiled his second double-double of the season on 41 assists and 11 digs to round out the list of highlights for the Pride.
After edging Endicott 25-23 in set one, Regis posted a match-high .462 hitting percentage (13 kills, 1 error, 26 total attempts) in set two to claim a 25-16 victory and grab a commanding 2-0 lead in the match.
The Gulls fought back in set three by breaking open a 15-all tie with a 4-0 run (19-15), which was fueled by one kill and two service aces from Doski, for an eventual 25-21 set three win.
Set four featured seven tied scored and five lead changes before Regis manufactured a 6-2 run at the 14-14 mark of the set to secure a four-point cushion that the Pride never relinquished.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Ryan Healy (Fair Lawn, N.J.) paced the Gulls defensively with a team-high nine digs.
- Endicott is now 1-1 overall against Regis this season (W, 3-0, Feb. 17).
- The Gulls are 4-2 at home this season, 6-2 on the road, and 1-5 in neutral site matches in 2016.
FOR THE FOES
- Regis evened its road record to 4-4 overall with tonight's win.
- The Pride claimed its first-ever victory against Endicott today (1-15).
- Prior tonight's win, Regis had only won one set against the Gulls (14 shutouts).
