Men’s Volleyball Turns Away Regis, 3-0

WESTON, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) play on Wednesday night with a 3-0 (25-18, 26-24, 25-16) win over Regis College.

Senior John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) and sophomore Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) both tallied 12 kills apiece to aid the Gulls to their second consecutive three-set victory. Daniel Toth (Glenwood, N.J.) also chipped in with nine kills on 14 swings (.500 hitting percentage) and nine blocks (three solo, six assist), while senior Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) ran the offense with a match-high 37 assists.

As a team, Endicott hit .303 overall in the match and over .400 in two out of three sets. The Gulls, who also tallied 13 or more kills in each set, entered tonight's match ranked No. 15 among all NCAA Division III teams in kills per set (11.87), and No. 19 in hitting percentage (.255).

Brett Krahl (Santa Clarita, Calif.), Marcos Aguirre (Norwalk, Calif.), and Sean Bisnett (Oxnard, Calif.) all notched seven kills each for Regis. Zach Sindoni (Haverhill, Mass.) registered 24 assists and seven digs, while junior libero Jon Fuentes (Downey, Calif.) recorded a match-high eight digs to round out the list of highlights for the Pride.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is now 15-0 in the all-time series against Regis.
  • Since the series started in 2010, the Gulls have only dropped one set versus the Pride (3/20/2014 | W, 3-1).
  • Jeremy Doski (Sandy Hook, Conn.), Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.), and Toth came into tonight's match ranked No. 27, No. 29, and No. 31, respectively, in hitting percentage in the country (out of 100 ranked student-athletes).
  • Doski added three kills in the win tonight, while Wasik had five and hit .273.

FOR THE FOES

  • Krahl hit .417 on 12 swings, while Bisnett produced a .217 hitting percentage on 23 swings.
  • Sindoni has dished out 10 or more assists in three straight matches, including a season-high 31 against Newbury back on February 11.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (7-6, 2-0 NECC) hosts Daniel Webster tomorrow in a league match at 7 p.m. Regis (2-8, 2-2 NECC) will play Elms (11 AM) and Rivier (3 PM) in a tri-match this Saturday.
