Tayek Finishes Career a Three-Time NECC Academic All-Conference Student-Athlete

2015-16 NECC WINTER AND SPRING ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE

BEVERLY, Mass. – For the third straight year, senior defensive specialist Chandler Tayek (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) has earned a spot on the New England Collegiate Conference (NECC) Academic All-Conference Team, exceeding the 3.40 cumulative GPA minimum to achieve the honor.

A double-major in computer science major and applied mathematics concentrating in interactive computer technology, Tayek excelled in his final year at Endicott, completing his semester-long internship during the fall semester and taking a full course load in-season plus senior thesis during the spring semester. He finished his four-year Endicott academic career with a 3.66 cumulative GPA and seven Dean's List appearances.

He has capitalized on Endicott's three required experiential learning opportunities with internships at FarSight Studios, an independent developer and publisher of multi-platform videogames where he did quality assurance engineering, Webtop, a Denmark-based web-consulting company, and Electric Insurance in Beverly where he assisted with several aspects of their IT infrastructure.

On the court, Tayek had his best season to-date playing in all 28 of Endicott's matches as the team finished the year 17-11 (9-1 NECC), captured their fourth consecutive NECC Championship, and qualified for NCAA postseason play. Tayek was relied upon heavily for his defensive ability and responded by generating a career-high 121 digs (1.33 per set). His season-high 11 digs came in a five-set loss to Emerson back on January 26 and followed that up with 10 more digs on January 30 as the Gulls defeated MIT 3-2. Tayek also had seven digs in Endicott's 3-1 victory over Daniel Webster in the NECC title match and five more in the team's four-set loss to Kean in the NCAA First Round.
