NASHUA, N.H. – After battling their way through a slow start to the 2015 season, the Endicott men's volleyball team elevated their overall record to above .500 after Saturday's 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-17) win over NECC rival Daniel Webster on the road. Undefeated in conference play at 7-0, the Gulls currently own an 8-7 record heading into a tri-match with #14 Dominican (Ill.) and Lasell on Sunday, March 8th.
Sunday's tri-match will be hosted by Lasell. Endicott (8-7, 7-0 NECC) first plays Dominican (8-7, 6-2 MCVL) at 1:00 p.m. before taking on the host Lasers (14-3, 5-1 GNAC) at 3:00 p.m.
Against the Eagles on Saturday, the Gulls sported an efficient .354 hitting percentage as a team with middles Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) and Ryan Sutherland (Fairport, N.Y.) totaling seven and five kills, respectively, with a combined .579 hitting percentage. Endicott also showcased their offensive prowess with their outside hitters as juniors John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) and Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) each averaged over a .350 clip on attack. Osborne would erupt for a match-high 18 kills on 31 swings (.355) while Seaver struck nine kills on 18 attempts (.389).
Junior setter Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) located his attackers for 35 assists as he continued to impress in his first full season as the team's setter. Little is now averaging 9.44 assists per set overall and 10.76 per set in conference play.
While Daniel Webster senior middle Joel Hendrix (Kane'ohe, Hawaii) was able to amass 15 kills with just one error and a .560 hitting percentage, Endicott played well defensively with a 28-15 advantage on digs and a total of five team blocks. Senior libero Kristian Catalan (Sudbury, Mass.) had a match-high six digs while Osborne, Chandler Tayek (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.), and Troy Rioden (Fairport, N.Y.) each added five digs apiece. At the net, four players including junior middle Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) had their hands in two blocks.
Endicott improved to 17-0 all-time against Daniel Webster with their previous meeting coming in the 2014 NECC Championship, a 3-1 victory for the Gulls to qualify for NCAA postseason play.
