Endicott Takes Down Lesley in Straight Sets

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's volleyball team improved to 10-0 in their NECC schedule after sweeping through Lesley in straight sets (25-17, 25-12, 25-12) on Wednesday night inside MacDonald Gymnasium. Gulls sophomore middle Ryan Sutherland (Fairport, N.Y.) shined with seven kills and nine block assists in the win.

Sutherland's blocking total was part of an overall team effort that produced 12 stuffs at the net. Junior middle Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.) added eight block assists as well as a team-high seven digs and four kills on eight errorless swings. Junior middle Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) and sophomore outside Tyler Willgoos (Newington, Conn.) each had two block assists while Toth struck a team-best eight kills and Willgoos added three more.

Endicott was able to hit .349 against Lesley as nine different players recorded kills. Along with Toth, Sutherland, and others, junior outside John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) struck five kills and both senior Billy Mullen (Weymouth, Mass.) and junior Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) hit two kills apiece.

Setter Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) had a match-high 23 assists including 13 in an opening set win that produced a .542 team hitting percentage.

Lesley was led with a match-high nine kills from both junior Jess Cherry (Lancaster, Pa.) and sophomore Tyler Burns (Newtown, Pa.) who each also had four digs in the loss. Sophomore setter Mitchel Ulacco (Winchester, Mass.) dished out 21 assists and libero C. Jay Sutton (Billerica, Mass.) had seven digs.

Endicott travels to Bennington, Vermont tomorrow for an important match with NECC rival Southern Vermont as the Gulls look to secure the number one seed in the upcoming conference tournament. Endicott and Southern Vermont hold first serve at 7:00 p.m. Lesley travels to Southern Vermont on Saturday for a 1:00 p.m. tilt.
