Endicott Takes Season Opener in Straight Sets over Brooklyn

UNION, N.J. – At the Kean Winter Classic, the Endicott men's volleyball team won their 2015 season opener in a convincing win over Brooklyn in straight sets (25-2, 25-3, 25-5) as the Gulls hit .638 and tallied 24 service aces as a team. Endicott has their hands full on day two of the invitational when they take on the sixth and 10th ranked teams in the country.

Endicott (1-0) takes on #10 Elmira at 11:00 am tomorrow before playing the tournament host #6 Kean at 1:00 pm. Kean defeated Elmira in five sets in the match prior to Endicott-Brooklyn.

Led by 11 kills on 11 errorless swings by Gulls junior middle Daniel Toth (Vernon, N.J.) and multiple kills by seven other Endicott attackers, the Blue and Green were able to control play against Brooklyn. Junior setter Cameron Little (San Diego, Calif.) distributed the ball to his teammates efficiently to the tune of 22 assists on 28 sets (.786).

Junior outside Dan Seaver (Milford, Mass.) recorded five kills on five swings, junior Chandler Tayek (Rolling Hills Estates, Calif.) and freshman Troy Riorden (Fairport, N.Y.) each added four kills, and senior captain Billy Mullen (Weymouth, Mass.) totaled three kills with three aces. Alex Wasik (Milford, Mass.), Ryan Sutherland (Fairport, N.Y.), and Pritesh Mistry (Boxborough, Mass.) each added two kills apiece.

Gulls junior outside John Osborne (Freehold, N.J.) facilitated a long run of points for Endicott in the opening set by serving up nine aces, one shy of tying the program's three-set record set by Tim Lyons '08 on March 1st, 2007 against Southern Vermont.

Mullen and fellow senior captain Stewart Allendorph (Delmar, N.Y.) tied for a match-high three digs while Little and Toth combined for a block.
