NEWPORT, RI - The Endicott College men's tennis team fell to five-time defending Commonwealth Coast Conference champion Salve Regina University in the CCC semifinals on Tuesday afternoon in Newport, RI. 2007 marked the most successful season in Endicott program history.

The Seahawks got off to a fast start in the three doubles matches, sweeping the Gulls in quick fashion. None of the Salve Regina tandems surrendered more than four games in their respective matches. CCC Player of the Week Josh Schoen (Phoenix, AZ/Arcadia) teamed up with the Conference Rookie of the Week Dan Murray (Coventry, RI/Bishop Hendricken) in the closest of the doubles contests, eventually falling to Jason Lago (Seabrook, NH) and Robbie Norton (Exeter, NH), 8-4.

In the singles match-ups, SRU was simply too strong as the Seahawks did not allow a game in three of the six matches. Michael Collins (Winchester, MA), Andrew Martin (Glastonbury, CT) and Stephen Masso (North Scituate, RI) each won 6-0, 6-0 at the No. 3-5 spots, respectively. Schoen, Murray and Scott Kitchen (Norwell, MA/Norwell) were the only Gulls to score at least one game victory.

With the 9-0 win, top-seeded Salve Regina advances into their sixth-straight Commonwealth Coast Conference final. The Seahawks will play host to No. 2 seed Roger Williams University on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 PM. Endicott finishes the season with an overall record of 9-9, the best mark in program history. First year head coach Todd Herrmann also led the Gulls to their first ever postseason victory.
