Endicott Advances in CCC Tournament

BEVERLY, MA - The Endicott College tennis team made program history on Sunday, as the Gulls defeated Curry College, 5-4, to advance to the semifinals of the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament. The win is Endicott's first ever men's tennis post season victory.

Endicott took two-of-three in doubles competition as the duo of Josh Schoen (Phoenix, AZ/Arcadia) and Dan Murray (Coventry, RI/Bishop Hendricken) started the action off with a convincing 8-2 win. The team of Scott Teller (Granville, NY/Granville Junior/Senior) and Marc Maloney (Feeding Hills, MA/Agawam High) also got in on the winning action, as they won their team-game, 8-3.

Endicott opened the singles match-ups looking strong as Josh Schoen won his contest, 6-2, 6-3. Dan Murray followed up with a strong \#2 singles win, 6-0, 6-2. Curry responded by rattling off four straight victories, evening the match score at 4-4. Endicott's Scott Kitchen (Norwell, MA/Norwell) pulled through for the Blue and Green, as the freshman battled back from a first set 7-6 loss to take sets two and three by the scores of 6-1.

With the win, Endicott advances into the Commonwealth Coast Conference Tournament's semifinal round. The Gulls will travel to top-seed Salve Regina University on Tuesday in Newport, RI. Salve is the CCC five-time defending champions. Match time is scheduled for 3:30 PM.
