NCAA FIRST ROUND: Endicott Prepares to Face Springfield on Saturday

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team will be making its first-ever NCAA Division III men's soccer tournament appearance on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 1:30 p.m. The Gulls will travel to Amherst, where they face off against Springfield in the first round game.

THE MATCHUP: The Gulls currently have an overall record of 13-4-3 and finished with a 6-1-2 record in conference play. They will face Springfield (14-1-2) in the first round of NCAA tournament play on Saturday, Nov. 11 at Amherst.

POSTSEASON HISTORY: This is the first NCAA tournament appearance for the Gulls. They defeated Gordon to win the program's first Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) title and an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.

The Gulls come into the NCAA first round after a 1-0 overtime win over Gordon during the CCC Championship on Saturday, Nov. 4. Dario Neukom (Palma de Mallorca, Spain) tallied the game-winner with 15 seconds remaining on the clock in the first overtime period. The Gulls are currently led offensively by Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio), who has 11 goals and four assists on the season for 26 points.

SPRINGFIELD (14-1-2, 5-1-1 NEWMAC) | STATISTICS | SCHEDULE

The Pride advanced to the NCAA first round after receiving an at-large bid to the tournament. They last played on Sunday, Nov. 5 and were handed a tough loss in a shootout after a 0-0 double overtime tie to WPI in the New England Women's & Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship game. Springfield's leading scorer is Brad Deckel (Lansdale, Pa.) with eight goals on the season, while Christian Schneider (Douglas, Mass.) leads in points with 20.

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner of this contest will move onto the second round game and will face either Amherst or Salem State on Sunday, Nov. 12.
