Gulls Battle MIT To 0-0 Draw

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott men's soccer team played a hard-fought 110 minutes that ultimately ended in a 0-0 double overtime draw on Friday evening against MIT at Hempstead Stadium in both team's respective regular season openers.

The Gulls controlled play for the majority of the match and saw several close chances throughout regulation and overtime, including two great looks during the first overtime period, of which one went wide while the other required a tough save by MIT goaltender Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, Mass.).

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Freshman goaltender Will Manuel (Mount Pleasant, S.C.) made his collegiate debut in net for the Gulls and tallied one save on the night. He is now 0-0-1 on the season.
  • Endicott registered five corner kicks compared to MIT's two.
  • The Gulls outshot the Engineers 23-7.
  • Evan Couchot (Mason, Ohio) led the offense as he notched six shots on goal, which is one shot shy of his game high record of seven.

FOR THE FOES

  • Cowham stood tall in net for the Engineers, recording six saves.
  • The Engineers were led offensively by Loukas Carayannopoulos (Westfield, N.J.) who had three shots.

WHAT'S NEXT

Endicott (0-0-1) is back in Hempstead Stadium on Sunday, September 3 when the Gulls host Montclair State at 12 p.m. to finish out the North Shore Invitational.

MIT (0-0-1) wraps up its portion of the North Shore Invitational at Gordon on Sunday, September 3 at 7 p.m.
