April 3, 2006

BEVERLY, MA - Endicott men's lacrosse coach Sean Quirk recorded his 100th career win Saturday in a 21-6 triumph over Nichols College.

Coach Quirk, in his 9th season at Endicott, has led the Gulls to seven consecutive conference tournaments and five NCAA/ECAC Division III Tournaments. In five straight seasons, the Gulls have finished in the top 12 in New England and the top 25 in NCAA Division III lacrosse.

The Cheshire, Connecticut native is among the winningest active coaches. His .676 winning percentage ranks 10th among Division III coaches and the 100 wins is among the top 25.

Quirk has coached over 40 All-American, All-New England and All-Conference players and a total of 19 seniors have received national recognition competing in senior all-star contests. Quirk has been the CCC Coach of the Year two out of the last three seasons and EC has a combined record of 30-2 in the CCC conference over the last four seasons.

Coming off of a huge upset last week against 13th ranked Bowdoin College, EC is looking to make its deepest postseason run. In 2005, Endicott lost to Middlebury 15-12 in the 2nd round of the NCAA's. The Panthers went on to the NCAA Tournament Championship, losing by a goal to Salisbury.

Quirk is a 1995 graduate of Springfield College. He was a standout lacrosse player for the Pride, winning the 1994 NCAA Division II National Championship. He also earned All-American honors in 1994 and 1995. In 1995 he was named the NCAA Division II Goalie of the Year.

The gulls will play Wentworth Tuesday, before taking on three non-conference opponents in Babson, Amherst and Connecticut College.
