Ross Olsson Makes AHL Debut In Bridgeport

BEVERLY, Mass. — Last week, former Endicott men's ice hockey standout Ross Olsson '18 M'19 (Billerica, Mass.) became the second student-athlete in program history to make his American Hockey League (AHL) debut with the Bridgeport Islanders, the National Hockey League (NHL) affiliate of the New York Islanders.

Olsson, who joins Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.) on Endicott's list of AHL alumni, played in a pair of games on loan for the Islanders (December 28 and December 29) before being recalled to the ECHL's Worcester Railers on January 2, 2022.

Olsson is currently in his fourth season of professional hockey (2018-present), the majority of which has been played for the Railers (2018-20, 2021-22).

Olsson's only year away from Worcester came in 2020-21, when the Railers opted out of the season, along with the rest of the ECHL North Division, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

During the 2020-21 campaign all of the ECHL's opt-out players were allowed to become free agents, which enabled Olsson to play for the Kansas City Mavericks and Indy Fuel.

In 86 career games in the ECHL, Olsson has compiled 22 goals and 18 assists for 40 points (7-4-11 w/ Worcester this season).

Olsson still ranks first all-time in the Endicott record books for points (134), power play goals (23), assists (79), and shots on goal (444).

Olsson's career stat line includes 94 games played (seventh all-time), 55 goals (0.59 GPG, both second all-time), 79 assists (0.84 APG, third all-time), 134 points (1.43 per game, second all-time), +34 plus/minus, 23 power play goals, three short-handed goals, and six game-winning goals (tied second all-time).
