Clark's hot three-point shooting downs Endicott 63-50

BEVERLY, Mass. – In Endicott's final home game of the first semester, the Gulls fell victim to a hot shooting Clark team from beyond the arc in a 63-50 non-conference loss on Saturday afternoon.  Endicott is now 4-3 overall on the season with a 1-1 record in CCC play.

The Gulls will be on the road Tuesday, December 13th at 7:30 pm against Emmanuel while Clark travels to Western Connecticut State on Monday, December 14th for a 6:00 pm tip-off.

The Cougars (6-3) made 53.3% (8-of-15) of their shots from three-point range including a 4-for-4 performance by senior Mitch Renshaw (Rutland, Mass.), who finished with 14 points.  Junior Tucker Esborn (Branford, Conn.), who had 14 points in the win, went 5-of-9 from the field with two of his three jumpers falling from behind three-point line.  Both Tucker and Renshaw were active on the glass grabbing eight and seven rebounds, respectively.

Clark's leading scorer, senior forward DJ Bailey (Palmer, Mass.), came off the bench to tie Greene for a game-high 15 points.  Bailey sunk 6-of-12 shots and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the free throw line.  He also grabbed four rebounds, two of which were on the offensive glass.

Endicott's junior point guard Lance Greene (Dorchester, Mass.), relatively quiet in the first half, came out strong in the second half by scoring 10 of his team-high 15 points.  Greene finished 6-of-13 from the floor while dishing out four assists, making two steals, and grabbing three rebounds.  Gulls freshman guard John Henault (Lunenberg, Mass.) was Endicott's leading scorer in the first half, tallying 10 points on 4-of-7 shooting including two three-pointers, and finished the game with 14 total points.

Henault's baseline jumper with two seconds left in the first half capped off an 8-1 run for the Gulls who trailed 27-19 with 1:42 on the clock.  Endicott went into halftime down only a point at 28-27.  Clark held the lead over the final eight minutes of the first half after a three-pointer by Renshaw put the Cougars up 15-13 at the 8:03 mark.

At the start of the second half, the Blue and Green looked to carry over momentum from the first half after a layup by Greene gave Endicott back the lead at 29-28.  The two teams exchanged the lead three more times until the 15:10 mark when with the score knotted at 35-35, Clark junior guard Marcus Armstrong (Malden, Mass.) sunk a three-pointer to put the Cougars ahead.  Clark went on to hold Endicott to 28.6% shooting from the floor in the second half while hitting 44.8% of their shots on the other end.

Clark senior guard Drew Billington (Fairfield, Conn.) was a factor in this game, registering six assists to go along with six points and two steals.

Endicott's Erik Callo (Southington, Conn.), in his first action of the 2011-12 season, chipped in with six points, five rebounds and a steal in 18 minutes played.
