CCC Athletes of the Week

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Forward Andre Makris (Southbury, Conn.) became a four-time CCC Rookie of the Week honoree following a 3-0 week for a Endicott men's basketball team that improved to 10-6 and jumped into third place in the league standings.

Makris averaged 16.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 2.0 blocks and 1.0 steals in the three Gulls wins over Eastern Nazarene, Gordon, and Curry last week.  His best performance was a double-double effort against Eastern Nazarene last Monday night.  He scored 18 points, grabbed 10 rebounds and block four Lions shot attempts in an 89-83 Endicott win.

He followed up that performance with 14 points on 7-of-14 shooting with six boards and two blocks in a narrow 70-67 triumph over crosstown rival Gordon on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, Makris was an efficient 7-of-9 from the floor with 16 points and five boards in a 101-86 win over Curry.  It was the second time this season Endicott had eclipsed the 100-point barrier.  Not since the 2002-03 season has a Gulls team twice scored over 100 points in a game.

Makris and the Gulls will honor three seniors during tonight's home conference game against the University of New England at 8:00 pm in MacDonald Gymnasium.
