Phil Rowe accepts CBOA Schoenfeld Award for sportsmanship for Endicott
READING, Mass. – On behalf of the Endicott men’s basketball team, head coach Phil Rowe accepted the Eastern New England Sam Schoenfeld Award from the College Basketball Officials Association.

The Schoenfeld Award, named after the former college basketball great who passed away in early 1956 from illness, is the highest honor that the CBOA bestows on any collegiate institution.  It recognizes colleges and university annually that exemplify “the highest degree of sportsmanship, character, and ethics among their players, coaches, and spectators.”

Endicott was one of 11 institutions honored with the regional award.

Sam Schoenfeld, one of the founding fathers of the CBOA, possessed a great deal of energy, impeccable honesty and a charismatic personality.  The award in his name is presented annually to a college or university that exhibits the principles and characteristics so prominently displayed by Schoenfeld.
