SPRINGFIELD, Mass. –
Endicott freshman forward Andre Makris (Southbury, Conn.) was named Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week for the third time this season after helping the Gulls snap a three-game losing streak and putting up numbers above his season averages.

Makris, who previously earned the honor in back-to-back weeks to open the 2011-12 season, averaged 18.0 points, 7.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, 2.0 assists and 0.7 steals per game in a 1-2 week for the Gulls.

After dropping their first game of the week to Wentworth, Makris exploded for 27 points, eight boards, and four key blocks in a 93-83 win over Nichols.  The victory not only avenged an early season loss to the Bison but it also snapped a three-game losing skid for the Blue and Green.  The sophomore was 11-of-17 from the floor including 4-of-7 from three-point range.

Makris capped off the week with 18 points, nine rebounds, three assists and two blocks in a tough loss to Western New England at home.
Of his 23 rebounds last week, 12 of them were on the offensive glass.  Makris’ seven blocks kept him ranked third in the CCC in that category.

Coming off their 89-83 win over Eastern Nazarene last night, a game in which Makris recorded a double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds, Endicott will look to win back-to-back games when they take on CCC rival Gordon on Wednesday, February 8th at 8:00 pm in Wenham.
