2014 CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District Teams

GREENWOOD, Ind. – Endicott sophomore defensive end Craig Anderson (Franklin, Mass.) was among only 24 NCAA Division III gridiron players from Massachusetts, Maine, New Hampshire, and Vermont on the CoSIDA Capital One Academic All-District First Team, which recognizes top student- athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. Anderson is now eligible on the Capital One Academic All-American Team ballot where first, second and third team All-American honorees will be announced later this month.

Anderson, an honors program member majoring in Criminal Justice with a 3.81 GPA, has excelled on the field for a Gulls football program that is currently 5-3 (4-1 NEFC) and sitting in second place in the conference standings. In seven games played this season, Anderson has 52 tackles, 10 TFLs, 4.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and a blocked kick. The reigning NEFC Defensive Rookie of the Year, Anderson has collected NEFC Defensive Player of the Week honors once this week for his week six effort against Nichols that saw him record 10 tackles, 2.5 TFLs, and a strip sack in the third quarter. His 52 tackles are seven shy of his freshman year mark while he has already set new career-highs with 10 TFLs and 4.5 sacks.

Off the field, Anderson has involved himself in the football team's community service efforts that included a tremendous team effort to raise nearly $20,000 in support of Relay For Life. He, like all Endicott students in their sophomore year, has already completed an internship while he is preparing for his second one this upcoming winter.

Anderson is the fifth Endicott football player to be recognized on the Capital One Academic All-District Team, joining current offensive line coach Casey McDonnell '13, running back Mike Wheeler '13, all-time leading rusher Mike Lane '12, and center Mike Zupkofsky '12.
