Baseball Takes Two From Nichols, 10-3 & 6-0

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott baseball team swept Nichols, 10-3 and 6-0, in conference action on Saturday evening at North Field.

GAME ONE: Endicott 10, Nichols 3

WP (4-0): Gabe Van Emon (Lexington, Mass.) – 2 1/3 IP, 1 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 5 BB, 4 K
LP (3-4): Justin Hurley (Burlington, Mass.) – 6 IP, 10 H, 10 R, 7 ER, 2 BB, 4 K

The Gulls put up crooked numbers in the first (3), fourth (3), and sixth (4) innings, respectively, to earn the victory.

Nicolas Notarangelo (Taunton, Mass.) highlighted the offense with a three-run homer to left field in the first.

Caleb Shpur (East Canaan, Conn.) and Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) also drove in a pair of runs with a double and a single in the fourth (6-1) and sixth (8-3) innings.

GAME TWO: Endicott 6, Nichols 0

WP (4-0): Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.) – 9 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 0 ER, 2 BB, 6 K
LP (2-1): Ben Weber (Rockaway, N.J.) – 5 1/3 IP, 4 H, 6 R, 6 ER, 4 BB, 4 K

Cannata only faced six batters over the minimum to register his first career complete-game shutout in the sweep.

The sophomore right-hander limited the Bison to a 0-for-9 showing with runners on, only allowed two leadoff hitters to reach, and held the opposition to a 1-for-10 performance with two outs.

He also recorded four 1-2-3 innings (2nd, 4th, 6th, 7th) in the contest.

Offensively, Endicott scored four runs in the first inning and never looked back behind Cannata's stellar outing.
