Worcester State Rallies Past Endicott, 4-1

WINTER HAVEN, Fla. — The Endicott baseball team fell to Worcester State University, 4-1, on Friday evening at Chain O'Lakes Stadium.

WP (1-1): Cole Glassburn (Hopkinton, Mass.) — 3 IP, 3 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 K
LP (2-1): Foch Lovejoy (Durham, N.H.) — 1 IP, 2 H, 3 R, 3 ER, 0 BB, 1 K
SV (1): Jarrett Morrill (Chelmsford, Mass.) — 1 PM, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 K

Tied 1-1 with one out in the top of the 10th inning, Alex Sorenti-Burns (Sagamore Beach, Mass.) launched a three-run homer to put the Lancers up for good.

All of Endicott's offense came on one swing in the sixth as graduate student shortstop Matthew McKinley (Hudson, N.H.) crushed his second career homer to tie the game at 1-1, at the time.

Despite the extra innings loss, Rian Schwede (Whitman, Mass.) put together a quality start for the Gulls via six innings pitched, seven hits, one run (earned), one walk, and two strikeouts.

Nicholas Cannata (Marlborough, Conn.), Chris Jenkins (Mansfield, Mass.), and Max Tarlin (Sharon, Mass.) also threw scoreless frames out of the pen.

  • Endicott saw its four-game winning streak come to a close.
  • Worcester State won its second straight extra innings game today.
