Millar Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District® Honors

CoSIDA RELEASE | ENDICOTT ALL-TIME HONOREES

BEVERLY, Mass. — Endicott baseball senior outfielder Joseph Millar (Lake Hopatcong, N.J.) has received College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District® First Team honors.

With today's announcement, Millar is the first student-athlete in program history to earn multiple CoSIDA Academic All-District® selections.

Millar will now appear on the national ballot for selection to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® team, which will be voted on by Sports Information Directors (SIDs) across the country this week.

Millar was the only Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) student-athlete selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District® Team. 

The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program is the longest-running and most prestigious academic and athlete award for student-athletes. The program receives 20,000 nominations yearly and selects 4,000 all-district and 1,500 All-America honorees each year. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program was established in 1952.

To be eligible, a student-athlete must be a varsity starter or key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, and have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at his/her current institution, and be nominated by his/her sports information director.


ACADEMIC RESUME

Academically, Millar currently sports a 3.84 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a sport management major with a minor in business administration

He is a three-time CCC Academic All-Conference honoree, a multiple Dean's List selection, and a member of the Phi Epsilon Kappa Honor Society.

Millar's experiential learning outcomes include internships with Boston University (BU, athletics marketing & promotions), Sussex County Miners (marketing & sales), and the Parisi Speed School (marketing & sales representative).

At his most recent internship with BU, Millar created marketing plans for the men's and women's basketball, men's and women's ice hockey, and men's and women's soccer programs, which entailed initiatives and game promotions to increase and enhance fan engagement.

He also spearheaded the growth of community databases for non-profits, youth, and clubs in the surrounding area of BU's campus and worked with the Junior Terriers Club.

Additional responsibilities included monitoring the non-profit ticket requests, writing scripts, managing in-game promotions, and designing and operating marketing tables at major events.

Millar's other endeavors during his time at Endicott include starting his own soap company — Fat Brother Soap, LLC — and volunteering his time at Thanksgiving Food Drives, the Pete Frates 5k, and being involved in Team IMPACT initiatives.


2021-22 SEASON

Athletically, Millar has started all 43 games this season in right field for the NCAA Tournament bound Gulls.

He currently is slashing .282/.486/.430 at the plate alongside 59 runs, 42 hits (12 2B, 2 3B, 2 HR), 24 RBI, 44 walks, 17 hit by pitches, and five stolen bases.

Millar ranks first in the CCC in plate appearances (214), runs, walks, hit by pitches, and on-base percentage.

His NCAA Division III national ranks include: base on balls (5th), base on balls per game (12th, 1.02), runs (21st), and runs per game (35th, 1.37).

Defensively, Millar boasts a .988 fielding percentage on 86 chances (80 putouts, 5 assists, 1 error, 2 double plays).

No. 16/19 Endicott (36-7) will take on St. John Fisher in their first game at the NCAA Tournament SUNY Cortland Regional on Friday, May 20 at 1:30 PM.
