NEW LONDON, Conn. — The Endicott women's track and field team competed at the Silfen Invitational on Saturday evening, hosted by Connecticut College.
Meagan McAndrews (Amesbury, Mass.) and Olivia Novello (Ipswich, Mass.) both qualified for New Englands in the heptathlon to highlight the Gulls.
McAndrews and Novello finished third (3,432 points) and fourth (3,231 points) overall after competing in the long jump, javelin, and 800m run on the final day of the event.
The duo needed top-10 finishes in the 800m run to qualify for New Englands, and they did just that, as McAndrews and Novello crossed the line in second (2:38.93) and sixth (2:48.11).
McAndrews and Novello tallied 585 and 483 points to easily surpass the New England qualifying standard of 3,150 points. The Gulls entered the event with 2,847 and 2,748 points.
