BEVERLY, Mass. — The No. 2 nationally ranked Endicott women's rugby team defeated No. 9 Yale, 55-7, in its home/season opener on Saturday evening at Hempstead Stadium.
Tess Merrill (Greenwich, N.Y.) highlighted the Gulls with a match-high four tries.
Laryssa Landmesser (Hudson, N.H.) also compiled two tries, while Colleen Mitchell (Glastonbury, Conn.), Chloe Marconi (North Andover, Mass.), and Sarah Aylwin (Topsfield, Mass.) all found the scoring area once.
Caitlin Padeck (Easthampton, Mass.) buried five conversions to round out the offense.
For her efforts on the day, Marconi received the Player of the Match award for her relentless, powerful attacking runs, and her exceptional defensive work at the breakdown.
