Title: Assistant Coach

Sean O’Neill enters his first season as assistant coach on the Gulls staff in the 2024-25 campaign. Prior to joining the Blue and Green, O’Neill was a member of both the Merrimack College and Western New England University soccer programs. 

Most recently in 2023-24, O’Neill earned his Master’s in Sports Management and Coaching from Rome City Institute. While earning his Master’s in Rome, Italy, the Belchertown, Mass. native played semi-professional ball for Settebagni Calcio Salario A.S.D. and also completed an internship in Athlete GPS Data Tracking. Additionally, he played in the Empire Collegiate League, where he was named a captain.

As a senior captain with Western New England in 2022, he was named the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Defensive Player of the Year, a CCC First Team All-Conference honoree, a New England Interscholastic League All-Star (NEILA) selection, a United Soccer Coaches Men’s All-Region Team honoree, and a 2022 United Soccer Coaches Men’s Scholar All-East Region Team honoree. In 2021, he was named to the CCC All-Conference Second Team in his junior season with the Golden Bears. O’Neill graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in Political Science as a Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society member in December 2022.

Prior to transferring to Western New England, O’Neill spent September 2018 – May 2021 as a member of the Merrimack College soccer team. As a Warrior, O’Neill twice earned Northeast Conference (NEC) Academic All-Conference honors (2020, 2021) and was a member of the 2019 NEC Regular Season Champion Warriors.
