EASTLAKE, Ohio — The No. 3/4 nationally ranked Endicott baseball team kicks off its third consecutive College World Series (CWS) venture this Friday at 10 AM against No. 8/9 Kean. Here's a preview of the Gulls' upcoming CWS trip.
FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The Gulls are the four seed throughout the College World Series tournament. Kean is the five seed.
- The winner of Friday's Endicott/Kean matchup would take on the winner of first-seeded No. 1/1 Johns Hopkins and eighth-seeded Messiah (unranked). That game takes place on Friday at 1:15, after the conclusion of the Endicott/Kean game.
- No. 8/9 Kean knocked off No. 7/10 Salve Regina in Super Regionals. They walked-off the Seahawks in game one (4-3) before suffering a 5-4 loss in game two. Then, in game three, the Cougars downed the Seahawks, 5-2, to clinch its seventh CWS berth in program history (won the national championship in 2007).
- Endicott's offense ranks first in the nation in runs (532; 11.3 per game) and also features one of the top pitching staff's in the nation (3.07 ERA and 1.18 WHIP both rank fourth in the nation). Meanwhile, Kean's offense ranks 35th in scoring (386 runs; 7.9 per game), fifth in ERA (3.20), and 16th in WHIP (1.32).
- This is the first ever meeting between the two programs.

WHAT'S NEXT
The winner of the Kean/Endicott matchup will face the winner of Johns Hopkins/Messiah on Saturday, May 31 at 1:15 PM.
The losing teams in Friday's matchups would square off in an elimination game prior to the winner's matchup at 10 AM on Saturday, May 31.
The CWS is a double-elimination format that features two brackets made up of four teams each. The two teams remaining from Bracket One and Bracket Two will then play in a best-of-three National Championship Series scheduled for Wednesday, June 4 and Thursday, June 5.
