BEVERLY, Mass. – On Saturday morning, Endicott athletics inducted three new members into their Hall of Fame as the Class of 2012. They also unveiled an incredible transformation of the first floor of the Post Center that included a new wing dedicated to the Hall of Fame, a wall of honor for conference and national achievements and an interactive kiosk that lets people take a virtual tour of the new areas.
In a ceremony attended by the 600 plus athletes at Endicott as well as coaches, alumni and parents, the Gulls enshrined baseball player Greg Allain ’05, soccer player Jessica Scholz ’04 and Professor David Bader and his wife Barbara into the Endicott Hall of Fame.
Scholz was a starting defender for the Endicott women’s soccer teams that built the framework for the current program’s success. Over her four years at Endicott, the women’s soccer team had a winning percentage of .782 (60-21-5) overall and in conference, the Gulls dominated by winning .875 of their matches (42-4-2). In that period, Endicott went from being a CCC semifinalist her freshman year to making the conference finals each of her remaining three seasons. They won two conference championships and recorded the first NCAA win in program history. Scholz was a four-time All-CCC honoree, included First Team recognitions in her freshman and senior season.
Allain was a duel threat for the Endicott baseball team between the 2002 and 2005 seasons, excelling both at first base and as a starting pitcher. He is among the career leaders in almost every offensive and pitching category, carrying a lifetime batting average of .352 with 189 hits and 133 runs batted in, both second in Endicott history. He scored 120 runs while wearing the Blue and Green, knocked 41 doubles and hit 9 home runs. As a pitcher, Allain won 20 games and collected four saves in his career, logging 228 innings, the second most in program history and pitching 12 complete games. Allain struck out 157 batters in 43 appearances. He was named CCC Player of the Year and named to the NCAA All-New England team during his senior season.
Dr. David Bader, Professor of Psychology, and his wife Barbara have been avid supporters of Gulls athletics since David came to Beverly full-time in September of 2000. Their unrelenting passion and enthusiasm for everything an Endicott student-athlete represents have been a powerful presence at athletics events for years. David and Barbara have appeared on the sidelines at nearly every match, game, or race donning their Blue and Green apparel in the spirit of Endicott athletics. David and Barbara have spent so much of their time recognizing and appreciating what each of the Endicott student-athletes do on the playing field. David was honored in the spring of 2011 with the David Cammett Award which is given to the Endicott faculty or staff member who embodies the spirit and passion of Gulls athletics.
Athletics director Brian Wylie introduced the ceremony and the speakers, and Endicott president Dr. Richard Wylie addressed the student-athletes in attendance.
Following the induction ceremony, the ECAC and Commonwealth Coast Conference championship winning teams from the 2011-12 school year raised their championship banners. Conference champions included men’s basketball, women’s tennis, field hockey, women’s lacrosse and men’s golf, while softball, men’s lacrosse, baseball and football captured ECAC crowns.
