D’Angelo, Del Maestro Shine On Day One At New England Regionals

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. — Endicott student-athletes Nicole D'Angelo (Readfield, Maine) and Bianca Del Maestro (Malden, Mass.) represented the women's track and field program well on Friday evening at the NCAA Division III New England Championship, hosted by Springfield College.

In the heptathlon, D'Angelo broke one school record (SR) and set three personal records (PR) in four events on day one of the heptathlon.

D'Angelo won the shot put with a school record toss of 40-feet and 9.75-inches. The previous mark was 40-6.

She also placed fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.08, PR), sixth in the 200-meter dash (27.24, PR), and 14th in the high jump (4-1.25).

D'Angelo currently sits in fourth place in the heptathlon with 2,445 points. 

She will wrap up competition in the heptathlon tomorrow in the following events: long jump (10 AM), javelin (11:30 AM), and 800-meter run (1 PM).

Along with those events, D'Angelo will compete in the open shot put at 1 PM (seeded seventh).

Del Maestro qualified for the finals of the 100-meter hurdles behind a school record time of 14.86-seconds (4th overall, non-wind-aided).

Del Maestro also notched a PR in the 100-meter dash with a time of 12.54-seconds (11th overall).

Tomorrow's slate of competition for Del Maestro will include the 4x100-meter relay at 11:30 AM and the 100-meter hurdle finals at 12:40 PM.

WHAT'S NEXT

D'Angelo and Del Maestro will be joined by their teammates in the 4x400-meter relay (4:20 PM) and the discus (10 AM) tomorrow.
