Del Maestro Makes History At Tufts National Qualifying Meet

MEDFORD, Mass. – Endicott women's track and field graduate student Bianca Del Maestro (Malden, Mass.) became the first student-athlete in program history to compete in the Tufts National Qualifying Meet on Saturday evening. Del Maestro was entered into the meet to better her chances at qualifying for NCAA Nationals in the 60-meter hurdles.

Del Maestro finished fifth overall in the event at today's last chance meet with a time of 9.18-seconds. 

Meanwhile, in the prelims, Del Maestro produced a time of 9.13-seconds to qualify for finals out of 12 competitors.

Saturday's meet capped off an incredible indoor season for Del Maestro which included the following:

  • Became the first student-athlete to score points in a track event at NCAA D3 Regionals
  • Broke her own school record in the 60-meter hurdles on five separate occasions
  • Ranked as high as No. 33 in the country in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.99
  • Currently 40th across all D3 hurdlers in the event

Endicott opens up its spring season at the Elmer Swanson Classic, hosted by Wesleyan University, on Saturday, March 25.
