Women's Rugby Qualifies For The NSRCO National Championship

BEVERLY, Mass. – The Endicott women's club rugby team qualified for the NSRCO National Championship, which will be held in Charlotte, North Carolina from April 30 to May 1, by posting a 5-0 record in the NSRCO Qualifiers last Sunday at Hempstead Stadium.

Endicott defeated Bentley, 22-7, in its opening game of the NSRCO Qualifiers Tournament before rattling off commanding wins against Colby-Sawyer (20-10) and Plymouth State University (35-5). The Gulls went on to beat the University of New England (UNE) by a 25-5 score in the semifinals before the two teams squared off again in the NSRCO Qualifiers championship match, which Endicott won over the Nor'easters, 17-7.

"I am so proud of our team's performance on Sunday and excited for the opportunity to compete in Charlotte at the NSRCO National Championship," said women's rugby head coach Bob Ryman. "Reagan Cerci was a huge part of our success over the weekend. She had a breakout day, scoring several tries and it is always great to see players step up in those situations."

Reagan Cerci (Easton, Mass.) was named the NSRCO Qualifiers Most Valuable Player, while Jordan Zak (Brimfield, Mass.), Lauren Hervieux (Lincoln, R.I.), and Maggie Birge (Rindge, N.H.) were all named to the All-Tournament team, along with Cerci.

With their NSRCO Qualifiers championship game victory over UNE, the Gulls will be one of 12 teams that will compete in the NSRCO National Championship later this month.

Endicott will return to action this weekend when the Gulls take on Yale (7s) this Saturday and Wentworth (15s) on Sunday.
