Endicott Dominates Salve Regina, 66-5

Endicott Dominates Salve Regina, 66-5

BEVERLY, Mass. – After a decisive victory over Wentworth in their first match of the 2015 season, the Gulls returned to action on Saturday in a Colonial Coast Rugby Conference (CCRC) matchup against Salve Regina.

The Gulls came into the match with confidence after a historic win over Wentworth, who finished the 2014 season ranked 2nd in New England, and it showed against the Seahawks as Endicott came away with a 66-5 victory.

"We were dominated in all phases of the game but it really started with our forwards," said coach Bob Ryman. "We stole balls, we dominated in the scrums and the forwards won us the ball and we just ran with it."

The Gulls were led by junior Grace Grieco (East Orleans, Mass.) and sophmore Magie Birge (Rindge, N.H.) who scored after breaking tackles from 40 meters out.  Graduate student Stephanie Yepez (Ridgefield, Conn.) was also a key contributor for the Gulls picking up loose balls, rucking and running all over the pitch.

The Gulls will return to Sunday against UMass Dartmouth. The Corsairs are coming off a dominant victory over Plymouth State 40-5. Game time is set for 12:00pm at The Nest.
