DANBURY, Conn. – The Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) released their weekly awards last night and freshman Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.) of the women's basketball team was tabbed the Rookie of the Week. Charette was just recently named this week's Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Rookie of the Week on Sunday evening. This marks the first ECAC honor of the season for the women's basketball program.

Last week, the Gulls finished 2014 strong going 1-2 while finishing at 5-4 (1-2 CCC). With two non-conference victories over MIT and North Shore rival, Salem State the Blue and Green will look to come out strong in the New Year. Endicott will take the court next on Saturday, January 3rd as they host regional foe, Brandeis at 1:00 p.m.

Charette posted three strong contests last week as she totaled 43 highlighted by a career high 21 points in the setback with conference opponent Eastern Nazarene. The freshman played a big hand in the two victories over MIT and Salem State. In the 69-65 victory over MIT the rookie posted six points and nine rebounds while scoring the eventual game winning basket with just seven seconds remaining in regulation. In the road contest with North Shore rival, Salem State the forward put up an impressive 16 points while adding two steals and six rebounds.

January will house a tough schedule for the Blue and Green as they head deep into conference play and start the second round of CCC play with Eastern Nazarene, #18/22 University of New England and Gordon at the end of the month.
