CCC Athletes of the Week (Week Ending December 14, 2014)

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) released their weekly awards on Sunday evening and the Endicott women's basketball team earned their first weekly honor of the season. After a strong 2-1 week to end December play, freshman Sam Charette (Wenham, Mass.) was tabbed with her first CCC Rookie of the Week nod.

The Gulls finished 2014 strong with a pair of non-conference wins as they sit a 5-4 (1-2 CCC). Last week Endicott fell to conference foe, Eastern Nazarene before defeating both MIT and North Shore rivals, Salem State.

In the setback with Eastern Nazarene the rookie posted one of her strongest games of the season scoring a career high 21 points while shooting 67% (8-of-12) from the field. In the 69-65 victory over MIT the forward played strong defense with three blocks, one steal and seven rebounds to go along with her six points. With seven seconds remaining in the contest, both sides were tied at 65-65 and Charette came up big by making a big move in the paint and put up a layup to give the Gulls the lead for good. In the final game of the week the Blue and Green traveled to Salem State where Charette posted 16 points and six rebounds as the Gulls soared to an 89-58 victory.

Endicott will take the court next in the New Year as they host regional foe, Brandeis on Saturday, December 3rd at 1:00 p.m.
