Nighthawks clip Gulls in ECAC Semifinals

CHICOPEE, Mass. - The Endicott College men's volleyball team had their season come to an end in the ECAC Semifinals as the Gulls dropped three sets (30-25, 30-24, 30-26) to Newbury College on Saturday afternoon in Chicopee, Mass. The Gulls wrap up their season at 22-13 overall while the Nighthawks moved onto the ECAC Championship where they lost a thrilling five-set match to ECAC North Champion Elms College, 3-2.

Mark Thomas (Wilbraham, Mass.) hammered out a match-high 17 kills while Matt Talamantes (Sylmar, Calif.) dished out a match-high 45 assists for the Nighthawks, who hit .362 for the match (54-16-105), including a sizzling .486 in the second set.

The Gulls received a team-high 13 kills from junior middle blocker A.J. Witkofsky (Scotia, N.Y.) and junior setter Ben Foster (Penfield, N.Y.) finished with 38 assists.

The 2009 campaign was extremely successful for the Gulls as they clinched the program's first ever NECVA New England Divison regular season championship by going 12-3 in NECVA play.
