CCC QUARTERFINALS: No. 3 Endicott Blanks No. 6 Western New England, 5-0

BEVERLY, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team shut out Western New England, 5-0, in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC) Tournament quarterfinal round on Saturday afternoon at the South Campus Courts. 

In doubles, Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) / Oliver Pope (Dartmouth, Mass.) won at No. 3 by an 8-2 decision to jump start the Gulls.

Janith Madhok (New Delhi, India) / Collin Dinardo (Westport, Mass.) followed with an 8-1 triumph at No. 2, while Brennan Nick (Tolland, Conn.) / Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) completed the sweep at No. 1 (8-3).

In singles, George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) made quick work of his opponent at No. 6 (6-0, 6-0) before Pope clinched the match at No. 4 (6-0, 6-1).

"We played well today. Our level is high, and we are ready for whatever is next," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We will enjoy this one since it has been a while for the program to win a playoff match."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE

  • Endicott is 9-1 at home this season.
  • The Gulls punched their ticket to the CCC Semifinals for the first time since 2018.

WHAT'S NEXT

No. 3 Endicott (10-10) will play in the CCC Semifinals at No. 2 Roger Williams on Wednesday, May 4 (time TBD). Western New England sees its 2022 season come to a close at 6-8 overall.
