Men’s Tennis Falls To No. 10 Regionally Ranked Coast Guard, 8-1

NEW LONDON, Conn. – The Endicott men's tennis team lost to No. 10 regionally ranked Coast Guard, 8-1, in non-conference action on Friday evening.

Endicott's lone win came in doubles as the pairing of Oliver Pope (Dartmouth, Mass.) / Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) earned a hard-fought 8-6 victory at the No. 3 slot.

"It's always a challenge to play against nationally ranked competition," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "Frankly, this was probably the best match we've played this year. Singles got away from us a bit, but we did a lot on our terms. The execution will come."

BEYOND THE BOX SCORES

  • Coast Guard, who will enter the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) national rankings next week, has won seven matches in a row.
  • The Bears are 6-2 at home this season.
  • Earlier this season (4/6/22), Coast Guard defeated regional power MIT snapping the Engineers' 29-match conference winning streak.
  • MIT had just one conference loss prior to losing to the Bears earlier this year, posting a record of 148-1 since the league started sponsoring the sport in 1999.
