Wheaton (Mass.) Edges Men’s Tennis, 5-4

NORTON, Mass. — The Endicott men's tennis team fell to Wheaton (Mass.), 5-4, in non-conference action on Saturday evening at the Beard Field House.

Trailing 2-1 after doubles, Janith Madhok (New Delhi, India) evened the score with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory at No. 2.

Wheaton responded with three straight wins, however, at the No. 3, No. 1, and No. 4 slots, respectively, to clinch the match.

Endicott's other victories on the day came from Oliver Pope (Dartmouth, Mass.) and Daniel Rinkert (Ben Lomond, Calif.) at No. 2 doubles (8-6), Julian Richtarich (Naples, Fla.) at No. 5 singles (7-6, 7-5), and George Danes (Old Lyme, Conn.) at No. 6 singles (7-5, 6-7, 10-5).

"Credit to Wheaton, they are well-coached and played hard," said Endicott men's tennis head coach Anthony D'Angelo. "We need to continue working on offensive patterns, but we fought hard and did a lot of positive things, too."

Endicott (1-3) travels to Bates on Sunday, March 6 at 12 PM. Wheaton (1-3) visits Hope International on Tuesday, March 15 at 3 PM.
