UNITED SOCCER COACHES RELEASE

BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott men's soccer student-athletes Charles Badji (Dakar, Senegal) and Joe Mepham (Sudbury, Mass.) have earned United Soccer Coaches All-Region honors for the first time in their respective careers, as announced by the organization earlier this week.

Mepham was named to the United Soccer Coaches Region II First Team, while Badji was selected to the Region II Second Team.

JOE MEPHAM | SO. | FORWARD

In 17 games played (all starts), Mepham compiled 10 goals (1 GWG, 2-2 PK) and seven assists for 27 points.

Mepham, who led the Gulls in all three offensive categories, also ranked sixth in goals, fifth in assists, and fourth in points among his peers in the Commonwealth Coast Conference (CCC).

Nationally, Mepham finished the year ranked in the following categories: penalty kicks (No. 1), goals per game (No. 114, 0.59), assists per game (No. 87, 0.41), points per game (No. 79, 1.59), shots per game (No. 40, 3.88), shots on goal per game (No. 88, 1.71), total goals (No. 114), total assists (No. 83), and total points (No. 86).

Today's announcement marks Mepham's third postseason award in 2021. Earlier this year, Mepham received CCC Rookie of the Year and CCC All-Conference First Team accolades.

CHARLES BADJI | SR. | DEFENDER

In 12 games played (all starts), Badji led the Gulls' backline to a 1.30 goals against average (GAA) on the season.

Endicott's 23 goals allowed ranked third in the CCC, while the Gulls' GAA both ranked fourth.

Meanwhile, in conference-only contests, Endicott ranked tied for first in goals allowed (8) and second in GAA (0.84) behind Badji's stellar defensive play.

The CCC All-Conference First Team selection (second career honor) also dished out one assist during his 2021 campaign.

Endicott went 8-7-2 overall and 7-1-1 in conference play. The Gulls, who earned the No. 1 seed for the 2021 CCC Tournament, bowed out to the eventual conference champion, Gordon College, in the semifinal round.
