Men’s Soccer scores in double overtime to beat Salve Regina 1-0 on Senior Day

BEVERLY, Mass. –The Endicott men's soccer team registered a stunning victory on Saturday, defeating foe Salve Regina 1-0 in double overtime behind freshman Jordan Daniel's (Canton, Conn.) team-leading 11th goal of the season four minutes into the second extra period.

Daniel's goal, which came off an assist from sophomore midfielder Abdulla Al Khalifa (Riffa (Bahrain), came on Senior Day as the Gulls recognize the dedication and leadership from fourth year players Kevin Gnecco (North Hampton, N.H.), Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.), Craig Jameson (Hookset, N.H.), and Michael MacLeay (Epping, N.H.).

Endicott now stands at 9-6-3 (4-2-2 CCC) and will works towards earning a home first round match in the upcoming CCC Tournament heading into the final week of the regular season.  Salve Regina dropped to 11-5-1 (5-3 CCC) and have now lost three of their last four conference matches.

The Gulls had a flurry of chances in the second half, but Seahawks freshman goalie Jeffrey L'Heureux (Litchfield, N.H.) robbed Endicott of taking the lead with impressive saves.  L'Heureux finished with four saves in the match, but dropped to 2-1-1 on the year.

Higgins, who was recognized along with his three fellow seniors, was strong between the posts for Endicott making five stops and directing the Gulls backline well.  Higgins improved to 7-3-2 on the season.

Endicott closes out their regular season with a road game against CCC opponent Wentworth on Wednesday, October 24th at 4:00 pm in Boston.  Salve Regina hosts Anna Maria in non-conference action on Sunday at 2:00 pm before playing CCC rival Nichols on Tuesday to wrap up regular season play.
