Jumbos defeat Gulls 2-0 in non-conference action.

BEVERLY, MASS.-  Endicott played Tufts scoreless for the first 75 minutes of play but eventually fell to the nationally ranked #22 Jumbos.  Both teams struggled finding any rhythm on offense until Rafa Ramos-Meyer (Washington, D.C.) netted his first of the season.  Maxime Hoppenot (Princeton, N.J.) netted a penalty kick to make the final 2-0.

The first half saw Endicott have the best opportunity as they saw Jed Magnusson (Kingston, N.H.) posted a shot in the opening five minutes of match.  Zach Rizzo (Redding, Conn.) also saw a rifle of a shot get deflected by the goalie and off the cross bar during the first half.

In the second half, the teams again battled through 30 minutes of scoreless play before Rafa Ramos-Meyer netted a scorcher of a shot.  He was able to beat keeper Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) with the assist going to Gus Santos.  Just five minutes later, on a breakaway by Maxime Hoppenot (Princeton, N.J.), Peluso came out to play the ball but wound up taking out Hoppenot.  Peluso was sent off and Hoppenot then buried a penalty shot by new keeper Daniel Higgins (South Kingstown, R.I.).  That put the score at 2-0 which would also be the final.

"We've now been tied at the half in all three of our losses," stated head coach Joe Calabrese.  "Our team has great confidence and belief in each other going forward after standing toe to toe with another nationally ranked opponent."

Austin Peluso played solid in net for his first collegiate start.  The freshman keeper made five saves on the evening.  His counterpart, Wyatt Zeller (Sea Ranch Lakes, Fla.), was able to register three saves and record a shutout.  "Zeller was the man of the match tonight.  He made three impressive saves to help the Jumbos keep a clean sheet," said Calabrese of his opponent.

The Gulls are now off until Saturday when they travel to Eastern Nazarene for a 3:00 p.m. start.  Tufts now awaits Colby on Saturday at 3:00 p.m.
