Endicott and Western New England battle to 1-1 2OT tie

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Coming into today's men's soccer match up between Endicott and Western New England, both teams were 2-2-1 in conference play with the opportunity to jump into a top three standing in the CCC.  After a 110 minute battle on Suprenant Field, the Gulls and Golden Bears settled for a 1-1 tie.

Gulls freshman forward Jordan Daniel (Canton, Conn.) scored what could have been the game-winning goal, his team-leading 10th tally of the season, midway through the second but Western New England junior defender Kevin Parma (Peconic, N.Y.) delivered with four minutes remaining in regulation to force overtime.

The two teams battle through 20 extra minutes of play but the Blue and Green were kept out of the goal as the match resulted in a tie.  Endicott's third tie of the season and second of conference play moved their overall record to 7-6-3 (2-2-2 CCC).  Western New England is now 6-6-3 (2-2-2 CCC).

Endicott goalie Austin Peluso (Farmington, Conn.) was a presence between the posts with 10 saves while allowing just one goal.  Peluso saw his season save percentage improve to .848 with his performance against Western New England.

Daniel's goal gave him 22 points on the season, moving him ahead of Nichols freshman Donny Whittle for the CCC lead.  The Bison are playing the University of New England at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

Prior to Daniel's putting Endicott ahead 1-0 in the second half, Gulls junior midfielder Ryan D'Amico (Marlborough, Conn.) had his penalty kick attempt stopped by Golden Bears goalkeeper Domenick Villano (Bronxville, N.Y.) in the 64th minute to keep the match scoreless.

Endicott has three matches remaining before the start of the CCC Tournament.  The Gulls hit the road on Tuesday, October 16th for a 3:00 pm match up with Nichols.  Endicott seniors are 2-2 versus Nichols since with 1-0 wins in 2009 and last October at home.
