New London, N.H.  – The Colby-Sawyer men’s soccer team earned an important The Commonwealth Coast Conference win over Endicott, 3-1 on Sunday afternoon. The win, which improves Colby-Sawyer’s record to 7-7-1 overall and 6-3-1 in the conference, moves the Chargers into a tie for fourth place. Endicott holds on to a tie for the final playoff spot with a 4-6 mark in the TCCC (4-9-1 overall).

The Chargers struck three minutes into the game when freshman Garrett March (Patchogue, N.Y.) found fellow freshman Kevin Flaherty (Wilmington, Mass.) sprinting down the left flank. Well outside the box, Flaherty sent a ball towards the net. The ball, which had some bend on it and was aided by some wind, went over the keeper into the back of the net. The goal was Flaherty’s first collegiate tally.

Colby-Sawyer sophomore Tyler Stotz (Amesbury, Mass.) gave the home team a 2-0 advantage on a header off a free kick sent in by junior Derek Veilleux (Winslow, Maine).

Endicott broke through in the 70th minute on a goal from senior \#Bryan Lee\# (Rockport, Mass.). There were several chances in front of the net for the Gulls, but no one could regain control of the ball until Lee gathered possession and deposited the ball for the score.

The Chargers added an insurance goal in the 79th minute after capitalizing on a mishandled chip shot from Veilleux.

Colby-Sawyer junior Will Berry (Berlin, Vt.) stopped nine Endicott shots in the win, while Endicott’s \#Daniel Higgins\# (Kingstown, R.I.) made two saves.

Colby-Sawyer will play at New England College on Wednesday with a 3:30 pm kickoff. Endicott resumes play on Tuesday with a 3:30 pm home match with Roger Williams.
