BEVERLY, Mass. – Endicott rugby assistant coach Charles Nastasi is taking his love for the sport to Africa, where he will coach and volunteer with the Bhubesi Pride.

Nastasi, who has been a coach with the Endicott men's and women's rugby programs for the past two seasons will travel to four different cities within South Africa including: Bloemfontein, East London, Port Elizabeth, and Capetown. The mission of this trip is to provide humanitarian aid by the means of coaching and building infrastructure.

"I look forward to working with children that do not have the means to afford academy rugby training," said Nastasi. "These children in South Africa deserve the right to have proper rugby experiences provided by the Bhubesi Coaches!"

Nastasi, who was one of the founding members of the Endicott rugby program, established his love for the game while living in Australia with his family.

About Bhubesi Pride

Bhubesi Pride Foundation (BPF) assembles qualified and dedicated teams of volunteers ('Pride' members) to carry out annual coaching expeditions, supporting rugby and community development in schools and community centres in nine countries across east and southern Africa.

Taking place between January and September every year, we align project activities alongside relevant partners – G4S Africa being an instrumental partner for the Foundation – NGOs, national rugby unions, government departments, international schools and local businesses, bringing added value to relationship and capacity building.

Working in Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Mozambique, Malawi, Zambia,Botswana, Namibia and South Africa, our objectives are as follows:

  • UNITE communities through rugby, promoting the sport's values and life skills
  • EMPOWER and up-skill local staff, nurturing community leaders, male and female, maximising sustainability
  • INSPIRE long-term developmental outcomes through tangible legacy projects, alongside in-country partners
