Box Score

BOSTON, Mass. - Senior midfielder Dan Cain (Billerica, Mass.) and senior attackman Brandon Dube (Danvers, Mass.) each scored three goals apiece to pace the 15th-ranked Endicott men's lacrosse team to a 10-4 win over Wentworth in a The Commonwealth Coast Conference contest played at Sweeney Field on Saturday.

The Gulls wasted little time getting on the board as senior midfielder Eddie O'Reilly (Beverly, Mass.) scooped up the ground ball off of the opening faceoff and scored 15 seconds into the game. Despite holding a 9-5 shot advantage over the first 15:00, that would be the only goal Endicott would get and would lead 1-0 after one.

A six-goal second quarter opened the game up as Dube, Cain, and senior attackman Nick Cosco (Londonderry, N.H.) each scored two goals and defensively the Gulls would outshoot Wentworth 14-4, hold a 14-5 ground ball advantage, and win six-of-seven face-offs to take a 7-0 lead at the break.

Cain's third marker of the game, coming 42 seconds into the second half, gave Endicott an 8-0 lead and the shutout continued until Wentworth senior midfielder Chris Wesche (Holden, Mass.) scored off a feed from classmate Thomas Zygmant (Southport, Conn.) with 6:04 left in the quarter. Dube gave the Gulls a 9-1 lead on a goal with 2:42 left before freshman midfielder Brian Vincent (Norwalk, Conn.) scored with 14 ticks left to increase the lead to 10-1.

The Leopards scored the only three goals of the fourth quarter, as freshman attackman Bill Berringer (Marblehead, Mass.) scored twice and assisted on the third, while sophomore attackman Matt Cox (Granger, Ind.) scored Wentworth's third goal of the quarter.

Junior Eric Hagerty (Sudbury, Mass.) made four saves over the first 30:00 to pick up the win for Endicott. Senior Shane Gallagher (Lowell, Mass.) made five saves while allowing four goals in the second half. In addition to Cain and Dube, O'Reilly had a goal and two assists, Cosco had two goals, and junior midfielder Brad Lipkvich (Madison, Conn.) had two assists. Senior midfielder Joe Gugino (West Hartford, Conn.) dominated the faceoff X, winning 12-of-14 attempts as well as collecting a game-high seven ground balls.

Berringer had two goals and an assist for the Leopards, while Wesche had a goal and an assist. Junior Sean Tobin (Silver Spring, Md.) made 16 saves in just over 59 minutes of work. Wesche and junior defenseman Jeff Ryan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) each picked up five ground balls, who saw their three-game win streak come to an end, dropping to 6-4 overall and 3-3 in league play.

Endicott, which improved to 12-3 overall and 6-1 in TCCC play, held a 38-28 shot advantage, a 56-32 ground ball advantage, and won 13 of 17 face-offs. Both teams are on the road Tuesday. Endicott is at Salve Regina, while Wentworth is at New England College.
