Hagarty, Cain earn TCCC weekly honors

March 9, 2009

BEVERLY, Mass. - The 8th-ranked Endicott men's lacrosse team, which has opened its season with three-straight wins, had two players named to The Commonwealth Coast Conference Weekly release, as announced by Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Monday. Senior midfielder Dan Cain (Billerica, Mass.) and junior goalie Eric Hagarty (Sudbury, Mass.) were honored as the TCCC Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectfully.

Dan Cain helped the Gulls off to solid 3-0 start as he tallied a total of seven goals in the trio of wins. The senior notched a pair of goals in the Gulls' season-opening win over Oneonta State, and then found the back of the net three times in Endicott's 12-4 trouncing of No. 20 Springfield College. Cain ended the week with two goals as the Blue and Green cruised past visiting RPI, 9-3.

While Cain was getting it done on the offensive end of field, junior Preseason All-American goalie Eric Hagarty was blanking opponents on the defensive side. The Gulls' defense, who has only allowed eight goals in 12 quarters of lacrosse, helped post wins of 8-1, 12-4 and 9-3 to anchor the Blue and Green to the unbeaten start. Hagarty has stifled the opposition thus far, posting a ridiculous 75.8% save percentage and a 2.67 goals against average to open his junior campaign.

The 8th-ranked Gulls return to action on Tuesday afternoon as Endicott heads to Williamstown, Massachusetts to face Williams College. The Ephs were ranked No. 15 nationally before falling Colby last weekend. Face-off is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
