SPRINGFIELD, Mass. - Endicott College was selected as the favorite to win the 2009 The Commonwealth Coast Conference men's lacrosse championship as announced by TCCC Commissioner Gregg M. Kaye on Wednesday. The Gulls finished last season at 18-3 (9-0 TCCC) and won the ECAC Championship. Voting for the preseason poll was conducted among the league's head men's lacrosse coaches.
The Gulls received six of the 10 first-place votes in the 2009 TCCC preseason poll, the Gulls enter the season ranked \#9 in the country by Inside Lacrosse. Western New England was selected by the coaches as the runner-up in the conference and received the remaining four first-place votes, the Golden Bears open the year ranked \#17 by Inside Lacrosse. Gordon was picked to finish third, while Roger Williams and Salve Regina were picked to finish fourth and fifth, respectively.
Endicott opens up its season on Saturday when it hosts Oneonta State at 3:30 p.m. in Beverly, Mass.
Teams received 10 points for every first place vote received, nine points for second place votes, eight points for third place votes, down to one point for a last place vote. First place votes are shown in parentheses.
