BEVERLY, Mass. — Last week (4/27), former Endicott men's ice hockey defenseman Jacob Gammelgaard '20 (Esbjerg, Denmark) won the Danish Championship in the Metal Ligaen as a member of the Rungsted Seier Capital.

Gammelgaard played a pivotal role for Rungsted in the best-of-seven championship round as the defenseman produced a plus-3 rating and aided the squad in shutting out the Pirates twice. His overall play also helped Rungsted outscore the Pirates 18-13 in six games.

Since its first NCAA Division III varsity season in 2015-16, the Endicott men's ice hockey program has produced nine professional hockey players.

Gammelgaard is one of six players to see action this season. He is joined on that list by Logan Day (Seminole, Fla.), Ross Olsson '18 M'19 (Billerica, Mass.), Tommy Besinger '19 (Milton, Mass.), Josh Bowes '18 M'21 (Edmonton, Alberta, Canada), and Jason Kalinowski '19 M'20 (Stamford, Conn.).

Day is currently playing for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in the American Hockey League. The Phantoms (15-6-3, 2nd in North Division) have six games remaining in their 2021 regular season.

Meanwhile, Olsson saw time in the ECHL with the Kansas City Mavericks and Indy Fuel this season.

As for Besinger, Bowes, and Kalinowski, the trio all have played for the Huntsville Havoc in the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL) this season.

Besinger will embark on a playoff run with the Havoc starting on May 6. To date, Besinger has played in 28 games with the club, scoring six goals and dishing out 13 assists for 19 points.
